Why 35 Years Ago Matters

This isn't a political issue. Any political comments will be removed without regard to who they came from. I am just telling my story.

I was 17 when I was attacked in pretty much the same way as Dr. Ford except there was no drinking involved. Did I report it? No, I was scared and at that time, little would have been done to him anyway. It was one of the most terrifying moments in my life which lead to weeks of not sleeping and a lifetime of distrust. Woman don't think like men, we never will. When will men get it that they have NO right to lay their hands on ANY woman without her permission? I don't care what she is wearing, saying, doing, or what he thinks she is doing, a man has no right to touch a woman without her permission. Just because he didn't get all the way with her, does not mean that it wasn't a valid attack. NO MEANS NO! There are NO exceptions.

I still remember that day very vividly and, unfortunately, think of it often. I cried for weeks after, late at night, when no one would hear. I did nothing wrong yet I felt like I was the one that should have been ashamed. I never dressed suggestively, said anything suggestive, or even hinted that I would be interested in him in any way. It was just that he felt he had the right to do whatever he wanted to me. There was another male in the room whose name I will not mention that sat and did nothing but watch. This male should have been my protector but did nothing of the sort which hurt even more because of the nature of our relationship. To this day, I am sure that he would deny it. No one would be shocked by that.

This is the kind of stuff that affects every relationship that comes after it. That is why it is important today. None of my relationships have been untouched by this experience.
Men don't think like women, they never will. Women are emotional creatures and there is great beauty in that. But when something emotionally traumatic like this happens, rarely can it be fully recovered from without affecting life later down the road. It is a big deal that she was attacked. Maybe not to you, but to her, it was life-altering, just as it was for me.

More women need to share their stories. The men in our lives deserve to know. Maybe if more men realized how messed up events like this make us, they can teach our boys how to be good men and to treat women with the respect they deserve.

Coffee Chat: Recovering from surgery!

After a 9 week female health issue and a Hysterectomy, I am happy to say that I am recovering nicely from surgery.

It is, however, a maddeningly slow process even though the surgery was robotic. I do recommend the Da Vinci MIP Hysterectomy girls if you have the option. Takes far less recovery time. I was in the hospital for one night and out at noon the next day.

I am very sorry for the lapse in blog posts but it was necessary to my recovery. But now I am back at it so there are more posts to come. Thank you for your patience!

Some Of My All Time Favorite Products

Everyone has some favorite products that they use frequently and buy repeatedly. If you are like me though you are always searching for the right product that actually gets the job done. Here are a few products that have worked for me and are my "Go To's".

  1. Jergens Ultra Healing - This is a moisturizer made for extra dry skin that contains Vitamins C, E, & B5. For the longest time I was looking for a good moisturizer for my legs, heals, and feet because I hate the dry ashy look. My daughter introduced me to this formula and I have loved it ever since. It has improved the look of my skin dramatically.
  2. CoverGirl TruBlend Liquid Makeup in Natural Ivory - I love this stuff so much I can't even tell ya. Used to be that the only foundations that I could find that matched my skin tone wouldn't lay on my skin correctly. Made me crazy. Even with a proper moisturizer and a primer I couldn't find one that would stay on my skin and give me good flawless coverage without looking cakey or smearing but not setting. I was ecstatic to find this product. It goes on easy and doesn't take a ton of product to achieve the look I want.
  3. CoverGirl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm in the shade 215 -  This product feels so good on my lips and looks natural. It is my favorite lip color by far and the one that I nearly always reach for. I'm no beauty guru and I don't wear a ton of make up because I like the "natural as possible" look. That being said, this balm is the perfect combination of sheer, moisturizing, and   color for me.
  4.  Coast To Coast Skin Radiance Aqua Mist with Quandong & Chamomile - I hate that dry rough scaly look on my face. I found that a great way to keep it moisturized is by using this mist after I moisturize and after I have been anywhere that dries out my skin. Nothing feels better than a cool refreshing spritz when your skin is tired and dried out. It brightens and refreshes my face while keeping it moisturized.
Now keep in mind that I am no pro in reviews or applying makeup. I get nothing from any of these companies for the review. I'm just an average girl on the search for products that work for me. Give these a shot and see if they work for you!
